What is a Spyware?

Computer software that obtains information from a user's computer without the user's knowledge or consent. Spyware is a type of malware that is installed on computers and collects little bits of information at a time about users without their knowledge. The presence of spyware is typically hidden from the user, and can be difficult to detect. These programs surreptitiously monitor and report the actions of a computer user. It typically track your use and report this information to a remote location. The more malicious spyware programs may capture and report keystrokes (Keyloggers), revealing passwords and personal information. Users are often tricked into installing spyware programs.

Spywares uses internet connection without the permission of its owner, in order to 'listen' to confidential data and transmit them to third parties. These are technologies deployed without appropriate user consent and/or implemented in ways that impair user control over their information resources and privacy.

Spyware is software that literally spies on the activities of the user of the computer where it is installed. All possible personal data is gathered and then sent to the author of the Spyware for whatever purpose(s) such information may serve them.
